ANNUAL CONCERT NOVEMBER 2011

The Choir’s Annual Concert took place at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms over the last weekend in November and, once again, it proved to be a great success. The excellent City of Lichfield Concert Band were the Choir’s guests for the second year running.

Compere for both evenings was the Choir’s very own Pete Cooper and his charismatic, relaxed style was ideally suited to the evening’s entertainment. The Choir took to the stage to open the first half with a set that included ‘The Way We Were’, ‘American Trilogy’ and the very challenging ‘Hallelujah Chorus’. The Band then followed with their first set which included selections from ‘The Nutcracker’ and Abba.

Following the interval, the Band’s contribution included a selection from ‘Mary Poppins’ and then the Choir completed their programme with a set that included the stunning ‘Bui Doi’ from ‘Miss Saigon’ and a selection from the ever popular musical ‘ Les Miserables’.

The Choir and Band then joined forces to give a rousing rendition of ‘Come Follow The Band’ and this was followed by the flag waving, Last Night of the Proms’ finale with the audience being in great voice.

An excellent time was had by all.

Hello Peter

Thanks for inviting us to play at your concerts this
weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed both evenings and thought the audiences
were most appreciative.

Dear John,

Attached pictures from last night's concert. Sorry the quality is not
perfect, but I was a long way off.

I enjoyed the concert very much, especially the second half, when you
seemed to get into your stride (and the compère's mike was turned down
when you were singing).
best wishes,

Bob

I WAS MOVED BY THIS CONCERT

On Saturday, November 26th, I had the pleasure of attending the Tamworth Male Voice Choir’s 34th annual concert as deputy Mayor of Tamworth.

The Night was compered by the very charismatic Peter Cooper whose jokes during the interval, well, less said the better.

Andy Smith, the musical director, led the choir through some of our best loved songs taking us on a journey to America and back, ending with the usual ‘last light of the proms’.

The guests for the evening were City of Lichfield Concert Band who played magnificently.

As a first-timer at one of these concerts I was totally overwhelmed by the standard of singing and playing throughout the night.

I will definitely be returning as a frequent concert visitor.

I would like to congratulate the male voice choir on all their achievements this year and look forward to seeing them again next year.
